π Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m a personal development geek! π€
I’m also a creative, writer, (amateur) filmmaker, and life-long learner. I enjoy exploring ways to help us to live happier, healthier, calmer, more creative, and productive lives.
I am more widely known as The Urban Wanderer and have been writing blogs since 2013 when I started my sustainable food blog “Susty Meals“. Since then, I have dabbled in vlogging, social media, and many types of self-improvement – being a self-confessed personal development geek with a bank of alternative therapies and practices under my belt including Neuro Linguistic Programming, Personal and Professional Coaching, and Laughter Yoga.
In 2021, I plan to up my game by sharing more online, creating videos, blog posts, and exploring new ways to ‘make life better’. I will be documenting the process along the way and hopefully, you will come along for the ride.

π§βπ» What I am currently doing
π Looking for a part-time paid contract working with community and/or walking
πΊοΈ Mapping out what I would like to do in 2021 when my current contract (and furlough) ends in March
π§βπ« Setting up channels for teaching English as a Foreign Language
π Planning how I can make a business out of sharing what I am doing
π€ Taking all kinds of courses to fill my time and brain during my furlough
π³π± Supercharging my Dutch learning! (check out My Little Dutch Blog)

π‘ Other things about me
πΆ I have been writing a blog about walking since 2016 when I had an ‘ah-ha’ moment while walking in a park in Rotterdam. It was the birth of The Urban Wanderer
π²πΆ I am a huge advocate for active transport and am currently working on getting back on my bike to explore further places
π I love cats. I love them so much that I have been known to handmake kievs for my furry crew
π I have been properly into self-help and personal development since about 2002 after I suffered a long-term knee injury that affected my mental health and I was seeking a medicine-free way to get back to my happy ol’ self
π The first ‘self-help’ books I ever read were “Self-Hypnotism” and “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” when I was 15. And I was hooked!
π I have been praised on many occasions for my excellent usage of emojis and gifs – so you’re likely to see them popping up here as well
π I have worked in the UK third-sector (charities and non-goverment funded organisations) for the past 15 years, supporting communities to set up sustainability projects and campaign for better things for where they live
π° Keep in the loop
While there might not be much here yet, I will be growing this website this year. To keep up with what I am up to, reflections of the week and grab some of the things that have caught my interest, then sign up for my newsletter (which currently doesn’t have a snappy name – perhaps get in touch to share your ideas. I’d love your help!)
